Inspirational quotes are – as you know by now – great Silver Linings in my life. I look to them for encouragement, support and motivation on good days and difficult ones. The past 10 days have been…well, quite difficult so much so, in fact, that I have found myself having a hard time keeping everything together and begging for forgiveness for a few dropped balls and untimely correspondence.
To add to the challenges, I have been on the road literally for the past 10 days with nary a day off. This isn’t very Silver Pen-ny of me, is it? I know, I know.
As I was staring aimlessly out of – yet another – airplane window, I was reminded of this quote. I realize that I’ve been a (reactive) passenger lately and that I need to be my own pilot. So, I think that what I need to do is put on my wings and fly my plane in a new direction. Sorry for the corny imagery, but I’m nothing if not literal.
Happy Flying!
You have to pause and take notice when your daughter asks you, "what on earth are you doing now?" I loved that from "suddenly seven"; such concern for her mommy.
I like this quote that asks us whether we want to be passenger or pilot of our lives. I could relate to your imagery of "putting on my wings and flying in a new direction". Similar to the saying, "straighten up and fly right".
You are SO RIGHT! Thanks so much, Carolee!
Addendum to my post: My husband just informed me that "Straighten Up and Fly Right" is a song from Nat King Cole. He is playing the song for me as I write this; pretty catchy tune and lyrics.
Ha! Ha! Love it!
