Today’s Friday’s Fixin’s is a book recommendation. Recommendation is an understatement. Truth be told, I am actually jumping up and down about this book.
As many of you may recall, nutritionist extraordinaire Rachel Beller MS, RD pretty much saved my nutritional life during my treatment. When I was in the bottomless pit of chemo despair, it was Rachel who suggested nutritious foods that I could actually eat (and keep down)…which was a double Silver Lining.
Rachel is a wealth of information. I never cease to be amazed by her! Not only does she work with cancer patients, but she is a featured guest on shows like Dr. Oz, The Biggest Loser, Good Morning America and the Today Show. Yes, she’s that wonderful!
So, you can imagine how excited (actually you may not be able to imagine me THIS excited!) I was that Rachel wrote a book to share her practical, non-nonsense, easily accessible information with the world (finally!).
The book is divided into four (very practical!) sections:
- Rachel’s Action Plan
- Let’s Eat: Recipes for Success
- Shop Yourself Skinny
- Just the Facts: The science behind the secrets
Rachel’s recipes meet my (modest, if I do say so!) requirements: easy, simple and delish. In fact since buying the book, I’ve made almost ALL of them (to the utter delight of my family). She also makes the most practical and wonderful shopping recommendations:
One of the reasons that I love this book is because she offers nutrition advice with scientific backing AND an action plan. In other words, she puts it all together which is a humongous Silver Lining for me, the girl who always asks, “Why?”
This book is so good that even the HOTY (Husband Of The Year…3 years running, I might add!) read it in one sitting. Uh huh. It’s that good!
Have I gushed enough? Do you get how crazy I am about this book? I hope so…and that you will pick it up and enjoy it as much as I am!
