Recently, I had the great opportunity to hear an emotionally inspiring and intellectually stimulating lecture by Tony Schwartz, president and CEO of The Energy Project. The Energy Project is a company that helps individuals and organizations fuel energy, engagement, focus, and productivity by harnessing the science of high performance. Doesn’t everything about this sound like a Silver Lining? He says… Continue reading Energy Renewal
Inspired Living & Celebrating Life
Love of Life
The last couple of weeks have brought both continued healing for me (Silver Lining) and bad news from lots of friends (e.g., cancer recurrence, divorce and even a death). This poem represents to me the balance of pain and Silver Linings in life. I still believe that no matter what happens, even the worst of… Continue reading Love of Life
In Memory of a Friend
And in this life, nothing good is truly lost. It stays part of a person, becomes part of their character. So part of you goes everywhere with me. And part of me is yours, forever. – The Shell Seekers
SL Book: State of Wonder
Get ready for a fantastic new novel, State of Wonder by Ann Patchett, that takes you deep into the Amazon and explores the the mysteries of fertility, the complexities of female relationships, and the morality of science and entitlement. I told you it wasn’t easy, but it is a page-turner!
(Un)Tethering Technology
Sitting in a cafe writing the post, I noted that people at 8 out of 10 tables are utilizing some form of technology. Yes, I’m one of the 8. When I observed this, I felt queasy. Why so much technology? What are we missing by being so focused on the devices in front of us? It’s time for me to become Un-Tethered to Technology. In so doing, the Silver Lining that will appear will foster productivity, creativity and growth.
Aspen Ideas Festival
While we were in Aspen, the HOTY and I had the opportunity to attend the Aspen Institute Ideas Festival. How can an event named “Ideas Festival” be anything other than great?!? I mean, really. The festival engages its participants in a variety of programs, tutorials, seminars and discussion events that together are the ultimate… Continue reading Aspen Ideas Festival
Fashion SL's: Vogue
It’s been a little while since I’ve done a Fashion post. However, my fashion enthusiasm was ignited when I saw this week’s release of Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover of the August issue of Vogue (Silver Lining!).
Interesting Inclinations
This poem (is it a poem? I’m not really sure) came to me recently and articulates exactly what I wonder about and feel when I am with a new friend or wonderfully familiar one.
Young Dubliners
This weekend I had the great, Silver Lining opportunity to see the Young Dubliners perform. I’m still giddy about it! It was my first time really out and about. And what a way to arrive! The Young Dubliners are a rockin’, feisty, energetic, talented and incredibly magical Irish band. It was literally a year… Continue reading Young Dubliners
A Gentle Suggestion
As I am joyfully reentering the world, one thing that I have found remarkable (& dumbfounding) is the number of people who come up to me and say, “Hi! Do you remember me?” I can’t begin to describe how unsettling this is. I’m about 80% on names. Some days more like 65%. Some names… Continue reading A Gentle Suggestion
