Today is the day of my “dry run” of radiation for breast cancer. My nerves are on high alert; however, the Silver Linings continue to appear.

Fashion SL's: Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef and Arpels
While in New York, I went to the Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef and Arpels exhibit at the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. For a period of time, I completely forgot that I have breast cancer. What a Silver Lining!
Down on the Farm: Simply Outstanding
After a week of being poked, prodded, stretched and contorted (thank you, breast cancer!), the timing to relax in a beautiful environment, with delicious food and amazing people was impeccable.
Outstanding in the Field lived up to its incredible reputation. If you have the opportunity to participate in one of these events, don’t walk…RUN!
Gettin' Ready to Radiate!
Today, I officially entered the breast cancer radiation road. Unfortunately, it is a heavily trafficked road. The Silver Lining news is that I am being cared for by an extraordinary team…including a bolus!
The Road to Radiation
Now that my chemo is DONE and my port-a-cath is OUT, it’s time to begin the Road to Radiation. Silver Lining: this is the LAST part of my treatment regimen. Yippeeee-do!
A Big Day
Before any big event, my dear, beloved mother-in-law used to say to her boys (& then to her grandchildren): “You have a Big Day.”
Today was a big, BIG day! A Silver-Lined day.
Friday's Fixin's: Multigrain Pilaf
Last week, a friend brought the most amazing lunch over. We had this delicious Multigrain Pilaf accompanied by even yummier conversation. I feel so happy, peaceful and simultaneously decadent eating outside. With a friend. At home. On a weekday. Everything about our lunch was a Silver Lining.
If…
The following poem is a classic. I cannot read it enough – especially since my breast cancer diagnosis. It is the most wonderful reminder of the most precious and delicious things in life…and the ways to enjoy them. I hope that this Silver Lining enhances your life as much as it does mine.
Friendship: The Ultimate SL
This trip to New York is further deepening my appreciation for the great and wonderful gift of friendship in my life. My mind and spirit are fueled by being surrounded by a profound level of love and support, which is the ultimate Silver Lining.
40,000 Foot Perspective
As it turns out, despite my jitters of yesterday, traveling after being on the breast cancer Isolation Island is (fortunately!) just like riding a bicycle. I hopped right back on and rolled easily, which was a real Silver Lining. Additionally, a five-plus hour flight enabled me to reflect on life lessons, lymphedema and cancer lingo.
