Silver Lining Video Series: Eating During Cancer Treatment

Welcome to the third video in the series! You all have been so kind and supportive of these videos. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. Truly.

As many of you may recall, while I was going through chemo, I was one of the few people who was completely unresponsive to the anti-nausea and anti-barfing medications. I was toilet-bound from the first drop of Taxotere until the last drop of Adriamycin (a/k/a “The Red Devil”). As hard as my oncologist and I tried to garner any insight into the reasoning for it, there was really no explanation for my persistent state as Madame Vomitus Rexness.

The Silver Lining is that I did find a few foods that I could eat during these tumultuous times and thought that I would take the time to share them with you.

I’d love to hear what foods work (or didn’t!) for you or your loved one.  Sharing ideas is one  of the Silver Linings of this blog.  After all, I believe that we all have a wonderful opportunity to help one another.

  1. I was one of the lucky ones that the anti-nausea medicine worked very well on. I think I did mention this to you before, but my go-to breakfast before every chemo treatment was a bowl of oatmeal. I also kept close watch on my diet to be sure that I was getting my nutritional needs met and drinking plenty of fluids.
Thank you Hollye for the additional nutrition items mentioned in your video. The videos are an extra silver lining to your daily blog. Thanks for being here for us.

  2. Beautifully done, Hollye! You've done a great job of inviting people in to visit your blog. Made me want to visit! And very honest and helpful as always!
