Fashion Silver Linings: Valentino

I have always been a fan of the Valentino brand, most especially when Mr. Valentino was designing. Since he retired (at the age of 75, after 40 years of design, by the way!), I haven’t been wholly awed or inspired by the collections. That said, I can’t imagine for the life of me following in his footsteps. I mean, really?

Well, the Fall 2012 collection stopped me in my tracks (Silver Lining). It is superlative in every way. Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli have blown me away! The collection is the perfect balance between being wholly classic, yet utterly sophisticated. The details are magnificent. My love affair with Valentino is back ON in a big way!  Let the drooling begin…

By the way, in the event that you haven’t seen it, I HIGHLY recommend the Valentino documentary, Valentino: The Last Emperor. It is a major Silver Lining and utterly entertaining!
