Remember that saying, "love is never having to say you're sorry"? It was from the book, then movie, "Love Story" by author Erich Segal. I always disliked that phrase as it is so not true. I much prefer Robert Heinlein's explanation of love you have here: "Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own". Now that's so true.
