Finally Five and I had the most incredible and special opportunity to tour the magnificent Roots Organic Farm in Solvang, California. We spent an inspiring afternoon with farmer Jacob Grant.
Roots Organic Farm is famous in these parts. In fact, at the weekly Farmers Market, local chefs line up buy produce from him. Quite an endorsement, I’d say.
What’s special about Grant is that he plants what he likes, changing the variety based on what works best and what’s in season. The quality of his product is, well, indescribable. Pretty much out of this world. His carrots, for example, are legendary…and slightly addictive. Seriously. They are like no other carrot I’ve ever had. Ever.
If you have the opportunity to go to any of the Santa Barbara Farmer’s Markets when you are in town, be sure to stop by to see Roots Organic Farm. It will change your life (Silver Lining).
You KNOW it’s a Silver Lined day when Finally Five ends like this:
There are times (actually more than one after seeing Monterey) that I REALLY wished I lived in California. I am an organic gardener; but, your conditions out there are to die for! What a gorgeous farm! Your soil is wonderful, climate perfect, and I bet you have earthworms that are a foot long! LOL
I don't know when I will ever get out there again, but I will definitely try those carrots. We are putting in a big garden this spring. Only wish it could be like his! Well, one can dream!
And dont even get me started on the roses you can grow out there. I am green with envy! LOL
