Silver Lining Books for the Bambino

A particularly poignant book for us all right now!

This is Thanksgiving week and therefore, I’m seeing even more SL’s (silver linings) and feeling more thankful than ever.

I have been in utter amazement at the thoughtfulness and support of sooooooo many people since the diagnosis.  This is a topic for a different, very, very important post.  For this morning, however, I’m focused on 4 3/4 (our daughter who happens to be 4 3/4).

This week an incredibly thoughtful friend dropped off the most wonderful collection of children’s books for 4 3/4 (in addition to a beautiful arrangement of the most fragrant yellow roses and magazines for me).   In addition to our SL Movie List, 4 3/4 and I have come up with a SL Book List for snuggle buggle afternoons.  It is especially fun for us to read “to each other”.  What this means is that I read a book to her and then she “re-reads” it back to me. Super amusing.

Here are some of our favorites, for which I’m very grateful.

The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper.  A magnificent classic!

A particularly poignant book for us all right now!

Ladybug Girl at the Beach by David Soman and Jacky Davis

Just remember, Ladybug Girl can do Anything!

Violet the Pilot by Steve Breen

Violet Van Winkle is an inventor with a flair for the air!

Fancy Nancy’s Absolutely Stupendous Sticker Book based on Fancy Nancy by Jane O’Connor

Fancy Nancy and Frenchy, her dog, ROCK!

Today I feel Silly and Other Moods that Make My Day by Jamie Lee Curtis.  I LOVE all of Jamie Lee Curtis’ books.  This is a wonderful book to help children recognize, explore and acknowledge all types of normal emotions.  Especially good with the roller-coaster of moods thanks to FBC.

The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear and Jan Brett

An engaging way to explore the magic of the Caribbean, including the tropical skies above and the underwater seascapes below!

Happy reading to all!
