Gwyneth Paltrow, you know, the Academy-Award winning actress, GOOP writing, bestselling cookbook author, is back with recipes for the foods she eats when she wants to feel energetic, lose weight, and look good. This is my new favorite cookbook. I love-love-love it!
Last spring, after a particularly grueling schedule that included a bit of overindulgence, Gwyneth Paltrow was feeling fatigued and nearly fainted during Sunday lunch with family and friends. A visit to Dr. Alejandro Junger revealed that she was vitamin D deficient, anemic, and that her liver was congested and her stress levels were sky high.
Dr. Junger prescribed an elimination diet to clear out her system and help her body heal. This meant no coffee, no alcohol, no dairy, no eggs, no sugar, no shellfish, no deep-water fish, no wheat, no meat, no soy, nothing processed at all which, she admits, are tough restrictions for a foodie to hear. However, after 3 weeks on the diet, she had astounding results.
When Dr. Junger suggested that she “this is the way you should try to eat for the rest of your life,” Paltrow partnered with chef Julia Turshen to compile a collection of 185 scrumptious and easy recipes that followed her doctor’s guidelines. The Silver Lining is that many of these recipes are vegan (yah!) and gluten free (yah!).
In It’s All Good, she shares the go-to dishes that have become the baseline for the restorative diet she turns to whenever she feels she needs it. My favorite recipes include Frankies-esque Beet Salad, The Best Green Juice and the Quinoa with Mushrooms + Arugula. You can buy the cookbook at abebooks.com (my favorite website for books!).
Ironically, I just purchased this book on Amazon this morning. I loved her first book about her father and I really enjoy her blog. I am so glad to hear this one is good as well. I am excited to read and try the recipes.
Jennifer
Oh great, Jennifer! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I am. I actually like it better than the first book.
