Whataweek with The Silver Lining
This has been an incredible week, filled with Silver Linings! The first big moment was when The Silver Lining was finally born! I must admit that walking into Barnes & Noble and seeing TSL on the bookshelf was pretty doggone magical!
I also set off on my whirl-wind book tour, starting off the week in New York and ending it in Philadelphia. I was filled with gratitude and joy seeing so many of you at events along the way; thank you for your support!
This week, I’ll be in Nashville, Phoenix, and Glendale, closing the week back home in California. I would love to see any of you who are able to make it to these events; The Silver Pen community has always been a huge lifeline and support system for me! Wondering where I’ll be? Check out the ‘Events & Signings’ section on my new book page.
Until then, here are some photos from my past week on the road. Thank you again, friends, for joining me on this journey!
If you missed it, both Dr. Phil and The Doctors aired on Monday, March 17th. Even though I wanted to throw up because I was so nervous, both program experiences were an absolute blast!
The first book signing event was at Macy’s Hearld Square in New York and was part of my Wacoal and the Fit for the Cure partnership.
Linda Tantawi, CEO of the Greater NYC Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, stopped by to celebrate the first book signing event sponsored by Wacoal and the Fit for the Cure.
My friends at The Walking Company also supported The Silver Lining with a book signing at their New York City store. Here I am with my NEW shoes! Definitely a Silver Lining!
I feel honored that Dr. Greene invited me to be a guest blogger. Incidentally, the Dr. Greene blog is an incredible resource for all health-related topics! Here is a link to my blog posts for them: http://www.drgreene.com/author/hollye-jacobs
I visited SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio’s Oncology Show and was able to share my story; it has always been a fervent goal of mine to get this book into the hands of those who need it- anyone suffering through breast cancer.
As many of you know, I am deeply committed to including children from the the time of a cancer diagnosis, throughout treatment, recovery and beyond. I discuss these concerns and offer some tried-and-true tips in this article for Women’s Day. Here is the link: http://www.womansday.com/sex-relationships/family/telling-kids-youre-sick
As I’m sure many of you know, each and every person with cancer has differing needs. However, one thing is for certain: they all need to know that they are cared for and loved. For Parents.com, I address ways to be a support. Here it is: http://www.parents.com/blogs/parents-perspective/2014/03/20/health/one-great-way-to-help-a-loved-one-with-breast-cancer
It has certainly been a busy week! There have been piles of Silver Linings; Elizabeth Messina and I can’t thank everyone enough for the ongoing support!
PS – Many of you have been writing asking if I’m taking care of myself. First of all, thank you so much for your concern. I’m not exercising as much as I usually do, but the HOTY is STILL the Husband Of The Year taking care of me.
YAY Hollye. Way to go. So articulate, so composed… Making a difference. X0X0
Thank you so much, Stina! I sure am trying. 🙂
You are doing an amazing job Hollye. So calm and composed. No one will even notice your throw up nerves 🙂 Miss you my friend! xo
Thank you so much, dear Cynthia! Home Saturday. xx
Thank you so much for writing this book. I'm a 36 year old teacher recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Just like you, there was no family history either. I received your book as a gift from friends and I'm so grateful to have this as I start my journey.
Oh I'm so sad to hear about your diagnosis Vatesha and sincerely hope that my book helps you! Please let me know how I can help. Sending my very best wishes to you. Please remember to BREATHE. Take good care, Hollye
Thank you so much for your well wishes! I'm ready to kick cancer's butt!! I would LOVE to have my book signed and meet you! Will you be in the DC/Baltimore or Philadelphia area anytime soon?
