National Plant a Flower Day

Did you know that today is National Plant a Flower Day. Yup! Suddenly Seven wants to know why it’s called National Plant a Flower Day.  The only answer that I can come up with is because it is the day for flower planting! Sometimes parental wisdom is found in low hanging fruit, if you know what I mean.

Neither of us had heard of the day before today, but I’m digging it (pun intended)!  Though her Momma is no green thumb (more like a black one!), Suddenly Seven loves to garden!

Did you know that the Rose (Rosa) is the official flower of the United States? Yup. I’m learning all kinds of fun things right along with you!

So, today Suddenly Seven and I are going to plant a “purple” flower. While we are planting, we thought that we would share a picked flower with you.

  1. "He who plants a garden plants happiness." That is one of my favorite quotes and I really believe it. The world needs more flowers, gardens and trees, oh my! Enjoy gardening with Suddenly Seven, those are some of the best memories in the making. My parents and grandparents were big on gardening. Some of my most wonderful childhood memories are gardening ones, including poking holes in the soil and then peeking in because one of my cousins told me I could see China if I did that. Whenever we had company over, my grandfather would go out to the garden and cut a rose for each lady, presenting said rose with a great flourish. Gardens nourish the earth and our souls.

    1. So beautiful, E.B. I love that quote as well! What a beautiful image of you as a child looking in the hole to see China. Precious. Thanks for sharing, as always!
