My new favorite summer book is C.Z. Guest: American Style Icon by Susanna Salk. I’ve always admired her. Not only was she one of the best-dressed women of all time, but she was smart, savvy and sensible (a double Silver Lining!).
C.Z. Guest loved parties, but she also loved to get her hands dirty in her gardens so much so that she parlayed her love of gardening into writing, penning a newspaper column and book on the subject. To this day, I love her unfussy, all-American taste. Her daughter, Cornelia Guest is certainly following in her footsteps.
Here are some of my favorite images from the book. If you love eye candy, you’ll love this book!
Love her style! From the dresses to the fur cape, to the suit; the classic styles are as wearable today as then. I agree with her thought "to keep it simple, there is only so much you can wear". I might add, before the clothes are wearing you.
Me too, Carolee! Great addition to her quote.
Hope all is well!
