Brace Yourselves

A year ago today, I wrote my first Brookside Buzz post. Wow. A year. I can’t believe I just wrote that.

I remember so vividly writing the story of my diagnosis in our hotel room (the HOTY, Finally Five and I went to Sedona, Arizona for a family bonding week just before my double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery). We had just told Finally Five about my diagnosis and the upcoming surgery (one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do). Then it was time to communicate with you all.

And communicate I have. 362 out of the last 365 days. So many things have happened in the last year. I’m continually astounded, humbled and excited by it all!

I feel like I cannot say thank you enough for your continued support and encouragement of my writing. Thank you. Again. And again.

As I mentioned last week, I have been in the process of redesigning the blog. Please know that the blog will continue to be all me. Someone asked me recently, “Who writes for you?” I laughed – out loud. It’s always been and will continue to be my voice and my writing. The blog will stay true to my style, life goals and of course, cancer treatments.

Brace yourselves…TOMORROW is the big “reveal” (as one of my dear friends always does at her parties). Stay tuned for even bigger Silver Linings!

  1. I had just opened your new blog, and thought of a parent at our school (I am a school nurse) who I thought would really find your column an SL as she has FBC, along with a full time job and two kids. I was just looking for her email, when she called to say the hair dresser found lice in one of the kid's hair. We call that FHL around here! Anyway we discussed that, I told her about your blog and that I was sending it to her and the the cosmic SL of her calling at that moment, and then we went back to the FHL discussion. I asked if she had the family checked for lice. She laughed and said no worries for herself and that her other child had told the hairdresser, "You don't have to check my mom because she doesn't have any hair!" So that became her second SL for the day. Thanks for all you share, your courage, and your love of of life! Your new site is beautiful and I look forward to my daily check in.
