Welcome to The Silver Pen

Welcome to The Silver Pen!

Hellooooo everyone! Well, here it is: a new version of The Silver Pen! I’m so doggone excited!  This has been about six months in the making. A book and new website all in one year. What on earth was I thinking?!?

Why did I do the new site, you ask? Trust me, there were many times along this path that I asked myself the same thing! Well, it all started when I was writing the book. During that period, it occurred to me that in the blog’s previous iteration, it was downright challenging to find particular posts. I thought to myself, “If I’m having difficulties finding things, how on earth will people who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer or in the throws of treatment going to find what they need?”

The answer to that question led me right here to the new site. My goal was to make The Silver Pen as user friendly as possible and to enable people to access crucial information and support when they are the most stressed. And, in the meantime, I thought why not change my logo and why not add a few fun bells and whistles?

So, WELCOME.  Please take a look around the site and give me your feedback. There are a few things that I know need fixing and we’re working on it, but your response matters to me.

I’d like to thank the team at Brand Knew and Wiley Valentine for all of their great help in building this new home!  And, of course, Elizabeth Messina for the photography that you see on the sliders on top and in the right hand column.  It definitely takes a village to live in this digital world!

  1. Absolutely love the new site…it is fabulous. I had a quick question for you. As we come to the end of the year are there any breast cancer/cancer organization you would recommend giving donations to? We are having a big holiday party and in lieu of gift I would prefer people to give a donation. BTW- Mirival was outstanding and amazing experience.

    1. Thanks so much, Jennifer! So generous of you!
Hmmmm….If I may be so bold, you could have people pre-order The Silver Lining books and then I'll distribute them to people who would not otherwise be able to afford them. That's one possibility…and something that we are working on in a big way.
Another option is direct care organizations. Do you have a local breast cancer organization that provides super practical things that people cannot afford? This is always so wonderful too.
Thank you for being so thoughtful during this holiday season!

      1. Thanks for your thoughts. It made me think about it from another perspective. I always think about the research piece but not always the people who go through this terrible disease without the means and support. I personally could not have done this without my family.

Take care. Thanks as always for sending me in the right direction.

        Jennifer

        1. Absolutely, Jennifer. Thank you so much for your note. I couldn't have done it without my family either. Take good care!

  2. Is your daily blog still available? I found that to be a helpful reference..I would like to have access to that-before your book comes out!

    1. It is indeed, Linda. Are you a subscriber? Thanks for your interest and for reading the blog! Best wishes, Hollye
