The other day, I found myself at the San Ysidro Pharmacy (the charming, independently owned pharmacy in town) buying yet another pharmaceutical to help me sleep! I actually should go to a Veterinary clinic because I need horse tranquilizers at this point! But I digress…
Thanks to chemo, my skin feels like an impoverished stretch of sand a/k/a the Sahara, Gobi, Syrian, and Great Basin Deserts.
While at the Pharmacy, I tried a sample of “Goe Oil” (see below). Can I just say: HOLY MOLY.
Goe Oil is a combination of 28 plant fruit and flower oils and butter, including Rosehip, Hemp, Meadowfoam, and Rice Bran oils which are all high in omega and essential fatty acids. Other ingredients include avocado, grape seed, mango and pumpkin seed butters which are rich in vitamins A, E, C, B, G, and Beta Carotene. The kukuinut oil in the lotion protects the skin. Chamomile and Calendula are additional ingredients that are excellent for calming irritated skin.
There are no parabens or other narley products. It is (very!) lightly scented with Monoi from Tahiti and quickly melts into the skin, leaving it feeling super soft and smooth. It is lighter than a typical body butter and lasts much longer than any moisturizer I’ve tried. I can’t tell you how great this is: Silver Lining (!).
Thanks to chemo, I’ve lost my hair: Bald. Bald. Bald. There was no stopping that. However, a friend told me about the RevitaLash and RevitaBrow products that stave off the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes. I consulted with my Oncologist (as I do with any and every product that I consider!) who supported the use of each of these products.
What I love about the products is not only do they work (my eyebrows and eyelashes are definitely much thinner than “normal”, but they are still very present), but they had a Silver Lining beginning!
RevitaLash was developed by Dr. Michael Brinkenhoff (an ophthalmologist ) as a special gift for his wife, Gayle, while she was recovering from FBC. Seriously. Isn’t that fantastic? Thus, a new, safe product was born and a formula created originally for just one woman has become a product available to women everywhere who want to have beautiful looking eyelashes.
An additional SL: Gayle and Michael are committed to donating a portion of the proceeds from RevitaLash sales to benefit non-profit breast cancer research and education initiatives.
RevitaBrow is another Revita-product that was designed to revitalize eyebrows so they look thicker and fuller. Just using the word “revita” makes me feel better (though, is “revita” a word?)! The information in the box says that daily application will result in fuller, healthier, and thicker looking brows within 4 to 8 weeks. Working for me. Definitely.
I’m so grateful for these products during FBC and will plan to continue to use them long after I’m over and out of FBC (SL).
Taking joy in living is a woman’s best cosmetic.
