Silver Lining Book: Charlotte Moss Decorates

Charlotte Moss Decorates is my new favorite book!  It is perfect antidote to all of my side effects described in yesterday’s post: chemo fog, attentional fatigue, decreased concentration and other cognitive maladies.  I have looked at it no less than 10 times since it arrived.  The great thing about it is that I can pick it up and put it down. Pick it up again and put it down again.  ….and every time I pick it up, it makes me smile!

Charlotte Moss has an extraordinary way of making a room feel romantic and luxurious, yet lived in. She refers to rooms being “stylishly cluttered” which is an incredibly charming description.  OK, truth be told:  I have a creative crush on Charlotte.  I think that everything that she does is amazing.  I absolutely loved her shop that she had on the Upper East Side of New York (and was incredibly disappointed when it closed).

I appreciate the fact that she considers herself  to be a “clipper.” (I have drawers FULL of clippings!)  She  sees what she likes, pulls it out and shows it to clients who can then show her what they like and don’t like. She believes, as do I, that a picture really is worth a thousand words. She takes her clippings, puts a board up and creates a storyboard. Charlotte considers it to be creative therapy. Since she claims that she can’t draw, this is how she creates visually.

Charlotte believes that too often we want the answers to design dilemmas to be involved. Instead, she suggests looking right under your nose because those answers will be the most successful.

I believe that this philosophy applies to life.  It’s kind of like Silver Linings.  They too are right under your nose.  All you need to do is open yourself up to the possibility.

I hope that you enjoy this wonderful Silver Lined book!

An empty room is a story waiting to happen and you are the author.
