Friendship: The Ultimate SL

This time in New York is an incredible Silver Lining gift between chemo and radiation.  Though sleep deprivation continues, I feel fueled and (dare I say it?) energized. On this trip, my gratitude for friendship has been illuminated – yet again.  I am seeing old friends and meeting new ones. My mind and heart feel full and nourished for the next (and final!) leg of my treatment journey.

Every single day, I take time to think about and express my appreciation for the gift in my life that is friendship, the ultimate Silver Lining.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.  The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

  1. Dear Hollye,

You are writing a powerful memoir about your experiences, which should be published as a book as soon as you are up to it. I join so many of your friends (and fans) in thanking you for being such an inspiration to us all. With love to you and HOTY.
