This song gets me – Every. Single. Time. I was just telling someone the other day that cancer treatment takes a village. I think of all of the people who were the “wind beneath my wings” when I was sick and am still so full of gratitude!
Who is the “wind beneath your wings”?
This song gets me every time too; I start to tear up at the first line. It was one of the songs sung at my Mother's memorial service, so it gives the song even more intensity for me.
Wow, Carolee. I understand how it is extra emotional for you. Thanks for sharing!
To answer your question, my Mother was "the wind beneath my wings." Ingratitude for the lessons she taught me, and in gratitude to you, Hollye, for your uplifting blog, I will share another of my favorite songs with you and your readers.
> You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
> And when I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
> When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
> Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
> Until you come and sit awhile with me.
> You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
> You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
> I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
> You raise me up… To more than I can be.
> You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
> You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
> I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
> You raise me up… To more than I can be.
>There is no life – no life without its hunger;
> Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
> But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
> Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
> You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
> You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
> I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
> You raise me up… To more than I can be.
> You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
> You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
> I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
> You raise me up… To more than I can be.
Ahhhhhh, thanks Carolee! This is AMAZING!
Hi Hollye, I'm so glad I stumbled onto your awesome website this evening through Pinterest. I was diagnosed with FBC in November and started chemo (neoadjuvant) – the last one will be next week. I'm scheduled to see "my surgeon" this week to plan the next step. I am more freaked out about the surgery than I was with the chemo. My younger sister finished her year long BC journey in December 2012. I love this song and feel like she is the wind beneath my wings, flying beside me on this wild ride.
Dear Christie,
First of all, thanks for sharing your story. Secondly, thank you for your kind words.
The thing to know is that you are not alone in feeling freaked out. Not in the least. We are all in this together and I vividly remember feeling the same feelings that you are now feeling. Please let me know what I can do to help.
So happy to hear that your sister is on the other side.
Wishing her and you all of my very best wishes.
Warmly,
Hollye
