Friday Photos: Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July, TheSilverPen.comFor the last 9 years, we have had the best (well, I think it’s the best!) 4th of July tradition: first we go to the Fireman’s Fundraising Breakfast and then on to The (13 minute!) Village Fourth Parade. There are actually two parades in town. We choose to go to The Village Parade because, quite frankly, it’s the cutest thing in the world. Anyone and everyone participates whether or not you live in town (though you can always tell the peeps who don’t live here).

The morning breakfast with the firemen is the BEST.  I love eating breakfast in the firehouse and watching the children (and a few adults) climb in and around the fire engines. It’s a special opportunity to thank the Firemen and women for all that they do to protect us. The Silver Lining is that the firemen tend to make their pancakes a little extra thick. Just sayin’…

I was kind of obsessed with their equipment.

Do you have any traditions?  If so, I sure would love to hear about them!

  1. Hola H,
I saw you at the FFB yesterday, I was going to come up and say Hola Hollye! however you were in the middle of a conversation with a nice lady and I didn't want to interrupt. This is my second time I begin my 4th of July having breakfast at the 93108 FS…and it's nothing short of what you describe in your post today and then beyond.
Have a lovely Fin de Semana.

  2. Love, love, love that quote! The breakfast and parade sound just about perfect. Santa Barbara is one of my favorite places in the world. Your blog and Frances' make me want to move back home, your posts always make my day even brighter. Hope everyone had a happy, fireworks-dazzled, hot dogs and apple pie Fourth! The USA rocks!
