Hamptons Gardens by Jack de Lashmet

Recently, I cam across the book Hamptons Gardens by Jack de Lashmet. It is a book full of drool inducing flowers, trees and gardens. Sometimes (okay a lot of time!) I love a ginormous picture book interspersed with whimsical stories and anecdotes. This is that book. The Silver Lining is that it is full of eye candy. I am feeling particularly inspired by this book because a very dear friend is getting married in the Hamptons this summer.

I’ve always wondered why some gardens called healing gardens, when it seems as though all gardens (and nature) are intrinsically appealing and beneficial to humans? Hmmm…

According to two leaders in this field, Clare Cooper Marcus and Marni Barnes, healing comes because the gardens promote:

  • Relief from symptoms
  • Stress reduction
  • Improvement in overall sense of wellbeing and hopefulness.

Those are some lovely Silver Linings indeed. Enjoy these images!
