Shaun Tomson The Code
Recently, when I was meandering through my local independent bookstore, I came across “The Code” by the world-champion surfer, Shaun Tomson. Do you ever have those days when the perfect book, quote, poem or other form of inspiration is delivered (via Silver platter) exactly when you need it? Well, that is exactly what happened when I found this book. Wowsy.
Do you know Shaun Tomson? As a wanna-be surfer, I have heard his name before, but didn’t know that much about him. Turns out he’s no slouch (yes, that’s a joke!). He has accomplished many achievements throughout his life, namely winning surfing’s world championship in 1977 and and being listed as one of the most influential surfers of the century. The South African native went on to found two surf apparel companies in the 1980s and 90s, and also produced the award-winning documentary Bustin’ Down The Door in 2009.
There are twelve stories in this book, all are taken from Shaun Tomson’s own life experiences in and out of the surfing world. Each story offers the simple message — I Will — as a model to face life’s challenges and help you achieve your goals. All you need is to be encouraged to find your voice and commit yourself to positive values. The stories resonate with positivity and hope for the future, and are infused with the belief that even in the darkest time, light shines ahead to show you the way forward. How great is this? I mean really.
I don’t know about you, but I am printing them and putting them on my inspiration board. Hope that you enjoy this book as much as I have!
Shaun is one of the most inspirational people I have had the pleasure to meet. He and his beautiful family are as good as they get. I'm so happy to see him spreading his sage world view through writing and speaking- just like you! Very, very inspirational- both of you:)
