Brookside Loves "The King's Speech"

Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter, before they became King and QueenTo get me out of my steroid-enhanced-hilacious day, The Husband and I went to see “The King’s Speech”. All I can say is WOW.  Absolutely incredible. Certainly the epitome of a SL (silver lining) message that I needed so desperately today.

The period set decoration and costumes are immaculately spot-on.  The cinematography?  Beyond.  It definitely did not pack the mental and psychological thrashing of  “The Black Swan”, but that is a good, good thing!

My crush on Colin Firth started, I admit, during the “Bridget Jones Diary” movies.  I also love 80’s music.  There.  I admitted to both.

His performance in the “The King’s Speech”, however, is out of this world.  At least it was for me because it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time.

As I have mentioned before, when you look for SL’s long enough, they just start to appear on their own.  Pretty F-bomb wonderful!

Oh, and by the way, to get him out of his most serious ruts, he drops the F-Bomb.  Oh yes he does.  …and oh, yes, I loved every single one of them!  If it’s good enough for King George the VI’s, then it’s good enough for Brookside Buzz!

i too have a crush on Colin Firth!!
it is a must see !

  2. Coincidence!
We rented "A Single Man" two nights ago.
If you recall that's the 2009 Tom Ford movie
in which Colin Firth gave an incredible Oscar
    nominated wonderfully nuanced, sensitive performance.
Not to mention the beautifully designed clothes
he wore and the exquisite sets all designed by
    you know who.
Soooo, we can't wait to experience his talent in
"The Kings Speech". Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the recommendation.

  3. If you are nursing a little crush on Colin Firth, be sure to watch (or rewatch) the six-part "Pride and Prejudice" miniseries produced by the BBC in the mid-90's and shown on A&E here in the US. It is absolute perfection as Jane Austen adaptations go, and also the vehicle that introduced Colin Firth to a wide American audience. I have seen it many times and agree that he, in particular, is just brilliant.
