Dreaming of Downton Abbey

Television is rarely of interest to me. I would always prefer to read a book.  There are exceptions, however. One is the series 24, which ended (boo! hoo!) a couple of years ago. The other is Downton Abbey. I have to say that I am absolutely cuckoo about this show, in part because it was the program that carried me through my reconstruction surgery and recovery last spring (which was a HUGE Silver Lining).

I adore the fact that this runaway success draws millions of people (like a magnet, I might add) to PBS (Silver Lining). How fabulous is that? There’s something a little David-and-Goliath about it, don’tcha think?

People still continue to ask me how they can help friends and/or family who have recently been diagnosed with FC (f-bomb cancer) or some other ridiculous illness. In addition to the suggestions I have written about here before, Seasons 1 & 2 of Downton Abbey are the perfect gift.

Dame Maggie Smith and Shirley MacClaine go toe-to-toe or is it nose-to-nose?

  1. I can't wait! I'm going to a viewing party tonight with a nice British meal included and am contributing a bottle of port to the occasion. I'm watching reruns to get geared up. Enjoy Season 3!

      1. I enjoyed it very much! Did you? Loved the wedding dress. And due to spoilers, I won't say too much in case someone reads this and hasn't seen it, but I certainly hope that everything with Mrs. Hughes turns out ok. That was shocking!

        1. Oh my goodness…the dress. Wowsy. That was AMAZING!
And can I just say: What's UP with Mr. Bates?!?!?
Look forward to ongoing dialogue about our favorite show!

  2. Best. Show. EVER!!!
Besides the writing, which keeps getting better….those clothes, jewelry, sets….ambrosia!!!
    Can't get enough…
    Xo
