I have recently learned of a wonderful, Silver Lined organization called Cleaning for a Reason.
As a nonprofit serving the entire United States and Canada, they partner with over 1,000 housekeeping services to offer professional house cleanings to help women undergoing treatment for cancer, any type of cancer. To date, they have helped over 9,000 women using more than $2 million in donated cleanings. How wonderful is that?
If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning – once per month for 4 months while she is in treatment.
All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Then, Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. Easy peasy.
This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women (Silver Lining).
Speaking of cleaning, I’m a big fan of the Seventh Generation cleaning products. Seventh Generation’s mission is: To inspire a revolution that nurtures the health of the next seven generations. The company uses use plant and mineral derived ingredients and are free and clear of dyes, fragrances and masking agents. Additionally, they contain no phosphates.
An added Silver Lining of these products is that they dedicate 10% of their profits to organizations working for positive change. Not sure what this means exactly, but I definitely value a philanthropic component to their business. It’s what I call Capitalism with a Conscious.
Please don’t feed the dust bunnies.
