Fall's Fabulous Folios

Did you know that the publishing industry has seasons? Indeed it does. The fall is my most favorite of the book publishing seasons!  Actually, come to think of it, fall is my most favorite season — period. I’m super excited about the goose-bump-worthy coffee table books that will be released in the next couple of months. You know…coffee table books as in grown up picture books. Thanks to FBC, I’m still a huge fan of picture books. Just sayin’….

I’m excited about everything from interior design to fashion to photography.  And perhaps the book I’m MOST excited about is Grace Coddington’s memoir. Good heavens am I drooling with anticipation about that one. Not very Vogue worthy, I know, but it’s true!

Here are the books that I’m most looking forward to:

  • Charlotte Moss: A Sensual Life
  • Cameron Silver: Decades
  • Slim Aarons: La Dolce Vita
  • Robin Layton: A Letter to My Dog
  • Hamish Bowles and Chloe Malle’s: Vogue Weddings
  • Diane Dorrans Saeks’: Anne Getty Interior Style
  • Carolyne Roehm: Flowers
  • Donald Albrecht and Thomas Mellins: Doris Duke’s Shangri-La: A House in Paradise
  • Maria Luisa Frisa and Judith Clark: Diana Vreeland after Diana Vreeland
  • Grace Coddington: Grace: A Memoir

Though they may be purchased at http://www.amazon.com:  I hope that you will consider purchasing them at your local independent bookseller first.

What are you looking forward to reading this season in front of a fire while drinking hot cider and eating pumpkin pie? Cue the drool. Again.

  1. What a great list, Hollye! I would add to it young designer Miles Redd's book coming out next month, as well as Alex Hitz's My Beverly Hills Kitchen. Fall is my favorite season, too, hands down. xo

  2. Fall is my most favorite season, too!
I'm curious…do you have a Fall birthday? I've noticed through the years that so many friends happen to favor the season in which they celebrate their birthday. Can one have anything to do with the other?
Fall has been my favorite as long as I can remember. Could it have a connection to happy childhood anticipations? I wonder if many of us have seen our favorites change through the years.

Seasons aside, your book list is terrific! Can't wait to read Grace's!

    1. Hi Rhonda,
      Thanks for your note!
My birthday is December 18th…a week before Christmas is not the most optimal time for a birthday, I must say. But the Silver Lining is HAVING birthdays!
      Hope you enjoy the books!
      Take good care,
      Hollye

  3. Mi linda H,

I am currently reading "All in One Basket" the latest book of Deborah Mitford, the Duchess of Devonshire, and enjoying it every bit, and I bought you "Slow Love" by Dominique Browning, which I hope to give you soon, because I think is just the right book for your cup of tea.

  4. What a timely post! Yesterday being the official start of Fall, I spent the better part of the day in a nesting, cleaning, polishing, washing, dusting frenzy getting ready for my favorite season … Fall! September through May, pretty much bliss time for me. I was determined to greet the season with a nest freshly scrubbed and sparkling from tip to toe. Had brownies in the oven and a big pot of veggie soup on the stove. Bliss. My neck of the woods gets much-welcomed cooler weather this time of year. You can finally garden without dissolving into a great, big puddle. The impatiens return to the garden centers, ready to be put in the ground, in pots and hanging baskets, adding bursts of bright color with their cheerful nodding blooms. Pretty soon pumpkin patches will sprout on every corner, scarecrows pop up on neighbors' lawns, it's a lovely, lovely time. Cooler temperatures, the holidays around the corner, what's not to love? I go around warbling "Fall, Fabuuuuulouuus Faaaaall!" much to my friends' chagrin. Love, love, love this time of year. Pumpkins and gardening and baking, oh my! And now a wonderful list of books to peruse, thank you, Hollye!

    1. Love your beautiful imagery, E.B.! How great do brownies and veggie soup smell? YUMMY! Enjoy your Fabuuuuuuulouuuus Faaaall! Thank you, as always, for your comments!
