What fun it was to watch the Golden Globes red carpet arrivals with Finally Five. Ok, truth be told, we took turns watching the red carpet coverage and A Bug’s Life. Seriously. I’m trying to impart the value of sharing. Alas.
A Silver Lining of the evening was an appreciation for a little frivolity now and again! While I know and appreciate the fact that fashion is a big (& wonderful!) business, in light of serious health issues, it drops in the pecking order of priority.
That said, you know I love my fashion. I thought that there was a wonderfully wide array of styles, from fishtail hems to high slits to sparkly numbers. I especially loved the variety of colors, including vibrant yellows, pinks and nudes.
Anyhoo, I thought that there were some amazing looks. Below are my faves. What were yours? I’d love to hear!
Paula Patton, in Monique Lhuillier with Kwiat jewelry.
Tina Fey, in Oscar de la Renta, with an Oscar de la Renta clutch and Kwiat jewels.
Jessica Alba, in Gucci, with Bulgari jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch.
Kate Winslet, in Jenny Packham, with Fred Leighton jewels and Roger Vivier shoes.
Angelina Jolie, in Atelier Versace, with Lorraine Schwartz jewels
Natalie Portman, in Lanvin, with Harry Winston jewels.
Of course Finally Five had her opinions about the gowns. And it warmed my heart when she asked me if I had ever walked on the red carpet. The fact that she has the capacity to think that I could is quite a Silver Lining.
On a humorous note, she wasn’t quite sure what to think about Mary J. Blige’s dress. She looked at it and looked at it and finally said, “Momma, she looks awfully hairy.” Guffaw.
Mary J. Blige, in Michael Kors, with a Jimmy Choo clutch.
Loved Natalie Portman's dress! I enjoyed the show, but missed an hour to watch Downton Abbey. Kate Winslet and her words – lovely!
I agree. I thought Kate was fabulous!
