Happy 4th of July…Through the Decades

In case you haven’t noticed, I love-love-love the 4th of July! It’s an easy, relaxed, pressure-free (i.e., NO GIFTS!) holiday. The decor is festive but not frivolous (though don’t get me wrong, I do love my frivolity!). The food is fresh and delectable. Triple Silver Lining.

I also happen to think that the 4th of July is the ideal time to perfect your all-American look. It’s so fun to see the 4th of July celebrated from 1943 until 2008 in Vogue.

  1. Love, love, love the 4th of July and all it stands for. Having come from a country where human rights were basically done away with, my parents truly appreciated what the U.S.A. stands for, opening its arms to immigrants from all over the world, giving us peace of mind and freedom of expression. They made sure I understood and appreciated how extraordinarily blessed we were and are. I am off to a neighborhood barbecue and later … fireworks! Let's hear it for the red, white and blue, long may the Stars and Stripes wave!
