As many of you know, I go chemo to in an outfit that makes me feel good, happy and confident. I have always put forth an effort to look my best, no matter how I feel, and chemo infusions are no exception.
So, the outfits that I wear to chemo are chosen with care and special meaning to me.
This week I am inspired by the color Pink. Perhaps it is because everywhere I look in Santa Barbara, the flowers seem to be pink. Pink, pink, pink: everywhere. (I know. I know. The daggers continue to fly from my friends who live anywhere OTHER than Santa Barbara!).
Pink also happens to be my favorite color (and that of our daughter, a/k/a Finally Five).
Therefore, I translated my pinkness into my round three of chemo.
The sweater and blouse are by Oscar de la Renta. I am a HUGE fan of Mr. de la Renta. That’s actually an understatement. I can’t really put into words how much I admire, respect and appreciate him.
A great gift in my life has been the opportunity to meet him (and even have conversations with him) on several occasions (Super Silver Lining!). He is everything one would imagine him to be: kind, generous, funny, witty, intelligent, charming and a perfect gentleman. His smile is radiant. His eyes are gentle. His warmth is palpable. So, I decided to take these extraordinary memories with me to chemo.
I’ve been wearing scarves more frequently lately. Despite the “scarf stares”, I find them to be softer, lighter and generally more comfortable. The Husband gave this one to me when I was pregnant with Finally Five. Though you can’t see it in this photo, the image on this scarf is of children laughing and singing. Another happy image to take into chemo!
My tote bag is called the “Garden Party Tote”. I love the name and it is an especially happy bag to have on a chemo day.

Wow, Hollye. I haven't met you (my sister Ann Wolf in Houston knows a friend of yours, Alexandra Knight, I think). Anyway, I went through what you're going through 7 years ago in a frigid NYC winter, not unlike the one we're having now. I can relate to so much of what you're saying. One of my most restful memories is of staring at the most perfect pink peony for hours as I lay on my bed at a particularly miserable post-chemo infusion interval. I too wore thick smooth silk and pink scarves. My favorite was (and still is) a swirly Pucci number in shades of pink, corals, creams, and browns.
You look ravishing with your chemo glow. There is such a thing!

We love you in pink..pink is such a gentle, warm and welcoming color. You wear it beautifully! Back in the 80's we had a pink living room….we called it "mauve" then. A little more unisex name for, let's face it, Pink! Loved it! 🙂 Thinking of you, and love the scarf!
There is much to plumbed from that old saying (and one of my grandma's favorite) "in the pink"!
Go for it….the pictures were a treat while sitting in Chicago which is masquerading as as "sub-zero". Blessings on the Rx round…may it work toward putting you "in the pink" on a steady basis.
