As I am nearing the completion of my daily treatments (Silver Lining), this quote keeps popping in my mind…let’s just say that I am feeling hopeful and starting to see the possibility of strength in the broken places. The world breaks everyone, and afterward many are strong at the broken places. –Ernest Hemingway

Reboot
As this period of aggressive, daily treatment for breast cancer is coming to an end (Silver Lining), I’m feeling as if a “Reboot” button is about to be pushed….and I don’t yet know what will appear on the screen as a result….
SL San Francisco Adventures: Grocers and Farmers
One of the many things that I loooooove about San Francisco is the food – it’s fresh, delicious and omnipresent! And I also love the fact that finally, I’m in a place where people talk more about food than weather! Whether food is bought at restaurant or from a farmer or local grocer, there is an inherent joy to all things food related. Producing it. Selling it. Making it. Eating it. Speaking of local gardeners and farmers…
The Guest House
My affection (did I just use that word?!?) for poetry continues to grow (Silver Lining). Wow. So cool. This poem by Rumi is yet another poem that jumped out at me and said, “Read Me! Let Me In! Pay ATTENTION!” I truly hope it does the same for you. THE GUEST HOUSE This… Continue reading The Guest House
Fashion SL's: Polka Dots
Now that I have a little hair and have ceased wearing head scarves on a daily basis, I am dreaming of polka dots. Polka dots have been off my mind for the past 6 months because I felt like it was a little (A LOT!) difficult to combine scarves with polka dots…though I’m sure that… Continue reading Fashion SL's: Polka Dots
SL Book: Room
There is only one way to describe this book: devastatingly great. Unputdownable (is that a word?). It’s so good that I read it in line at the grocery store. Sriously. It’s THAT good! Room is about a five-year-old boy, Jack, (written from his perspective, in fact) who has lived his entire life locked with his… Continue reading SL Book: Room
Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way
In the past nine months, thanks to breast cancer, I have had to look fear in the face and either go around it, through it or over it. Good thing that I’ve gotten pretty good at it (Silver Lining!).
Journey
Poetry…beautiful, soul-searching, enchanting, eye-popping, inspirational poetry keeps coming into my life (Silver Lining). I’ve never been a big poetry fan. Ok, honestly, I have always had a tendency to avoid it at all costs. Why? Well, because it has always intimidated me. Which, I know-I know, is not the fault of the poetry! Until now,… Continue reading Journey
City Lights Silver Lining
One of the great joys of being in San Francisco, aside from my exceptional care, is the City Lights bookstore (Silver Lining).
I am a real sucker for independent bookstores. I pretty much melt in a puddle whenever I have the opportunity to go in one. Much less shop. It is a fantastic way to get my mind off of breast cancer!
The Silver Pen Loves Bill
Today, I had a Silver Lined afternoon when I went to see the Bill Cunningham New York documentary. It is a perfectly joyful way to spend an afternoon…away from breast cancer!
