Silver Lining
Fashion SL's: Dresses
Today’s Silver Lining fashion post is about my love of dresses. I love nothing more than wearing a dress for day or evening. A dress is one of the easiest things in my closet to wear because no matter what I wear with it, I feel pulled together.
Now What?
Now that radiation is done, the big question is: Now What? More treatment? Remission? Testing?
The “Now What?” question has three answers which I will, of course, explain.
Energy Renewal
Recently, I had the great opportunity to hear an emotionally inspiring and intellectually stimulating lecture by Tony Schwartz, president and CEO of The Energy Project. The Energy Project is a company that helps individuals and organizations fuel energy, engagement, focus, and productivity by harnessing the science of high performance. Doesn’t everything about this sound like a Silver Lining? He says… Continue reading Energy Renewal
Love of Life
The last couple of weeks have brought both continued healing for me (Silver Lining) and bad news from lots of friends (e.g., cancer recurrence, divorce and even a death). Friday's Fixin's: Artichoke Dip
Hope you will enjoy this unique twist on the traditional Artichoke Dip!
SL Book: State of Wonder
Get ready for a fantastic new novel, State of Wonder by Ann Patchett, that takes you deep into the Amazon and explores the the mysteries of fertility, the complexities of female relationships, and the morality of science and entitlement. I told you it wasn’t easy, but it is a page-turner!
Unexpected Letdown
When I finished with radiation and came home, I had no idea that there can be an unexpected side effect to surgery, chemo and radiation: post-treatment letdown. I know. I know. How dare I suggest it? Why on earth would I think it? Well, you know by now that I am hardly the girl to shy away from a difficult topic.
(Un)Tethering Technology
Sitting in a cafe writing the post, I noted that people at 8 out of 10 tables are utilizing some form of technology. Yes, I’m one of the 8. When I observed this, I felt queasy. Why so much technology? What are we missing by being so focused on the devices in front of us? It’s time for me to become Un-Tethered to Technology. In so doing, the Silver Lining that will appear will foster productivity, creativity and growth.
Aspen Ideas Festival
While we were in Aspen, the HOTY and I had the opportunity to attend the Aspen Institute Ideas Festival. How can an event named “Ideas Festival” be anything other than great?!? I mean, really. The festival engages its participants in a variety of programs, tutorials, seminars and discussion events that together are the ultimate… Continue reading Aspen Ideas Festival
