Young Dubliners

This weekend I had the great, Silver Lining opportunity to see the Young Dubliners perform. I’m still giddy about it!

It was my first time really out and about.  And what a way to arrive!

The Young Dubliners are a rockin’, feisty, energetic, talented and incredibly magical Irish band.

It was literally a year ago that I heard them perform for the first time.  I was immediately smitten and became an instant and lifelong fan. To have had the opportunity to see them again a year later (after FBC!!) was exhilarating.

There is a power and energy to their music and performances that are inspiring.

Keith Roberts and Paul OToole first met on L.A.’s vibrant pub scene circa late 80s at a time when Roberts was composing some Irish ballads and thought casually about assembling a rag-tag team of fellow Irish transplants and like-minded American rockers. From their humble beginnings at the Irish Rover, the band evolved through various personnel changes into a pugnacious, crazy but coolly irresistible force of nature that eventually made its way into the studio to record their debut EP Rocky Road.

Founder Keith Roberts said, “I’ve noticed recently that I can’t write a song about how miserable life is without supplying some silver lining.” How cool is this? He had no idea about Brookside Buzz Silver Linings when he said this! One of the many reasons I love them.

Please check out their website for more information and their tour schedule.

I’ll be at as many shows as possible, jumping up and down in the front & pouring them a few shots of their favorite Irish whiskey whenever possible!

When Irish eyes are smiling,
‘Tis like a morn in spring.
With a lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing.
