Another Recovery Road

Hi Everyone!  I’m back!  Thanks to the HOTY for posting yesterday…and for taking such good care of me – AGAIN.

Wowsy. Bowsy. Am I ever glad to be home and DONE with surgery! Major Silver Lining of the week!

Thank you all so very much for thoughts, support…& your implant input!  I am deeply appreciative.  My final choice was to go with saline implants. At the end of the day, I chose saline implants because they are as safe as any implant can be. The saline which is put into a saline implant literally comes from an I.V. (intravenous) bag. This is the same fluid that can be/is injected into veins. In other words, if there is a leak, my body would safely absorb the fluid.

While I know that the silicone gel placed into a gel implant might be harmless (& that people love them!), I did not feel as though I wanted to voluntarily allow my tissues to be exposed to this unnatural substance. The other thing is that once silicone gel leaks into the body, there is no operation that can remove it. Right now, at this point in my life, I am all about Safety First.

My doctor said that in the event that I really don’t like the saline implants, that it is easy to change them out for silicone gel implants (Silver Lining).

For whatever reason, I’m dealing with some gnarly pain issues again. Despite large quantities of pain medicine, I’m still feeling rotten. With pain comes constipation, though I’m also taking large quantities of Colace, Senekot and Miralax (all bowel movers and softeners). I’m hoping that with time (even in the next day or so) that the pain & plumbing issues will settle down. Fingers and toes are crossed.

I will go back to see my plastic surgeon on Friday for the unveiling (I am bound like a mummy right now).  Until then, I’ll be resting and healing.

Thank you all, again & again & again for all of your love and support!

A very healing sunset!

  1. Hi Hollye! I read your blog every morning and am always inspired by it – thank you! I wish you a very quick recovery.

  2. SL – For the unveiling you can pretend you're Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love doing the twirling scene with Joseph Fiennes when he unbinds her. Probably not quite the same in a doctor's office, but you can try it.

  3. So glad you're home and feeling somewhat better. I found that walking (just a little bit) really helped to get my bowels moving. I certainly understand your decision to have saline implants.
    Take care!

  4. Sending positive thoughts your way for a speedy recovery. A mixture of applesauce, prune juice and bran worked for me after my surgery. A couple tablespoons at nite does the trick. Cheers!

  5. Hollye,
You are such an amazing human being. Thank you for blogging and helping me to see the true Silver Linings Daily! You rock and I am so glad that this surgery is behind you and you are able to rest now. God Bless you and Aloha wishes from Hawaii-

  6. Hi Hollye,
Hello from snowy Chicago. I went with saline 12 years ago for the same reasons and have never regretted my decision. I love your blog and have shared it with many friends. Heal well and as you know minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, year by year is the best way to face all adversity. You will be rocking those perky bad girls in a bathing suit before you know it and all the other Mommies at the beach will be jealous!

    With love and prayers,
    Karen

  7. Hi Hollye,

I read your web page often. I find it really inspiring. A great mix of everything. Thanks so much. I am a very positive, a bit scared and doing well stage 4 nslc lung cancer pt.; Had brain surgery after a series of bad headaches and a tumor was found, and a course of radiation and now I am getting chemo for a little tumor or 2 in my lung and a little spot on my liver. Four months later and a clean scan….YAY… Also eating well, taking supplements and doing natural oils. I work part time, ride my horse Chase and have lots of positive people around me.

    Love,
