Brookside Beauty

Today has been a beautiful and great SL (silver lining) day.  Today, The Husband and I took Buzz on a walk along the ocean front.

It was a spectacular day, 80 degrees and perfectly sunny. (Sorry to my friends living in the East!)  It was my first walk with real sneakers on in over a month!  I was joyous.  It was also Buzz’s first off-Brookside walk.  Not only did he do great, but he seemed as joyous as I was.

Though I’m outrageously exhausted, it was completely worth it.  I’m hopeful to gain more and more strength everyday. SL’s abound and I am abundantly aware of and grateful for them!

Below is a beautiful poem sent to me by a beautiful friend now to be shared with you all.  Enjoy this SL.

Sleeping in the Forest
By Mary Oliver

I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.
