Sunday Snapshots: Katy Perry

Last night I had the great and amazing opportunity to hear Katy Perry at the Santa Barbara Bowl.

The Santa Barbara Bowl is a legendary venue celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year.  As the largest outdoor amphitheater in Santa Barbara County with capacity of 4,569, the Bowl retains its cozy and intimate ambiance in a spacious and beautiful outdoor venue. I love the Bowl and will go at any and every possible opportunity!

Truth be told, prior to seeing Katy Perry, I couldn’t name one of her songs. I knew that she is a Santa Barbara native and recognized her from the cover of Vanity Fair last month (or was it the month before?). Pathetic, I know. Yes, I’m embarrassed. I agreed to go because the HOTY (a/k/a Husband of the Year) wanted to go. Yes, the HOTY wanted to go.  And I agreed.

As you may recall, when I was in the bottomless pit of chemo despair, I became addicted not to pain pills, but to the television show Glee.  Yes, Glee. As in Sue Sylvester, Rachel, Puckerman, Finn, etc. I L-O-V-E all of the characters!  Glee was my go-to for mood enhancement.

Well, tonight I was reunited with some of my favorite “Glee” songs…a/k/a Katy Perry songs.  OMG. I was so F-bomb excited. Singing (dismally). Dancing (enthusiastically!). Have I ever mentioned that I love nothing more than a sing-a-long? From “Mary Had A Little Lamb” to “Teenage Dream” I’m a sucker for sing-a-long’s!

So, last night was a Silver Lining night. And Katy Perry has a new fan in Brookside Buzz!

  1. My 20 year old daughter stayed home from college her January term and helped take care of me after my surgery for double mastectomy. Any way she went out and bought all the glee episodes and we watched them together during my fog of pain pills etc!! I am know a glee fan also. But more importantly what a fun time with my daughter!!
