In the event that you don’t already know about it, I’m so excited to share the most elegant little book with you: Let’s Bring Back by Lesley M.M. Blume.
Let’s Bring Back is a wonderfully whimsical yet informative encyclopedia of the items, expressions, and attitudes of yesteryear (my FAVORITE time of the year!) that honors the timeless tradition of artful living.
It is a witty, intriguing and educational book written from A-Z about topics ranging from Aesop’s Fables (e.g., Sour Grapes, Killing the Golden Goose and The Lion’s Share) to Ziggurats (chic ancient pyramid temples popular among the Assyrians and Babylonians).
Let’s Bring Back is FULL of wonderful things that just aren’t seen anymore. Fortunately, this book does not take a great deal of concentration or focus, since there is no storyline (MY kind of book, thanks to chemo brain). It is just plain fun and happy. What a Silver Lining!
Even the book cover is fabulous. I have to say that I DO judge a book (at least in part) by its cover. C’mon. Don’t you? Just a little bit? I had a long talk with a bookshop owner the other day who told me that covers DO make a difference to shoppers. I will absolutely gravitate toward a book with a charming, delightful and engaging cover. Why not?
Back to Let’s Bring Back..it is so amusing and smile inducing to read about things that I have forgotten about or things that I never knew about in the first place. While reading it, I always have my pink Moleskin journal handy so that I can I write down all of the things I find incredibly charming and try to incorporate them into my daily life (SL).

I am going to look for this book today!!! There are so many things of yesteryear that have been forgotten or discarded altogether; the simple, yet important gestures that need to reappear in today's society. I, too, judge a book partly by it's cover (not so much people) but definitely a book. That's one of the reasons that you received "My Grandfather's Blessings" so many years ago, from me. That book cover grabbed me like none other, and that was a blessing in itself; it will remain one of my favorite books of all time. Take the time to reread it, as it too, unveils so many "silver linings" or "blessings", as the author refers to them.
