I picked up the book Lift written by Kelly Corrigan because I read her memoir The Middle Place. By the way, The Middle Place happens to be my favorite cancer memoir.
Kelly is funny. I mean seriously funny. And real. I feel like I can call her Kelly because reading her books feels as if you are talking to a friend. It’s no wonder that The Middle Place became a New York Time bestseller. I love when normal, everyday people are wildly successful. So great and such a Silver Lining.
Lift is written as a letter to her two young children. A wonderful, tender, intimate and powerful letter. What I like about Lift is that Kelly has shifted from being a person with breast cancer to a person who used to have cancer – twice. What I took away from Lift is an accessible and achievable formula for living more fully.
The timing for me, clearly, could not be better (SL).
As in The Middle Place, Kelly’s voice in Lift is strong, poignant, funny and REAL. She’s the girlfriend’s girlfriend. Someone who says things how they are with humor and without unnecessary drama. Love that!
I read Lift in an afternoon and felt wonderfully happy when I finished. Is there anything better than that? Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I haven't heard of this book and am looking forward to reading it. Did you read State of Grace by Ann Patchett? SO GOOD.
"The Middle Place" is one of my all-time favorite books. Read it when it first came out; could hardly put it down. As you say, her voice is strong, poignant, funny and real.
I loved how she included her father and his battle, along with hers; they were quite the team.
