So, you’re coming to Santa Barbara? Well, my oh my, let me be the first person to say WELCOME and get ready to have some FUN! We natives (I’m not really a native, but like to say that I am!) are always asked, “What are the Must-Do’s in Santa Barbara?” I have my favorite list… Continue reading So, You're Coming to Santa Barbara

Friday's Fixin's: White Bean Dip with Leaf Organics Crackers
Because I don’t eat meat (aside from the once or twice a year cheeseburger!), I am constantly on the lookout for sources of protein. I’ve recently come across a recipe that is serious win-win-win. Not only is it EASY and DELISH, but it has 17.4 grams of protein and 11.3 grams of dietary fiber per… Continue reading Friday's Fixin's: White Bean Dip with Leaf Organics Crackers
Linkin' Around – The Hausa of Nigeria
Several people have asked where to find things that I highlight, e.g., chocolate. Now you know that I would always want you to have access to high priority items…like chocolate, of course. Well, FYI…whenever you see a word in pink, if you click on it, you will be directed to the source, whether it is a… Continue reading Linkin' Around – The Hausa of Nigeria
Life's Lovely Lessons, Part Trois
Here are some more of the Silver Lined lessons that I’ve learned in the past year courtesy of FBC. The perspective that I’ve gained has been sweet, though bittersweetly obtained. I’m so grateful for every and every one of these lessons! Here are links to the previous lists of lessons. Why not list them all at… Continue reading Life's Lovely Lessons, Part Trois
Caring for Children Throughout the Cancer Trajectory

Chocolate!
Valentine’s Day is coming up. Yippeee! For years, it has been one of our favorite holidays. How great is it that after 10+ years of marriage, we are still crazy about each other (Silver Lining!)? Not a single day goes by that I don’t recognize how fortunate I am to be married to the HOTY… Continue reading Chocolate!
Afternoon Matinee with the Iron Lady and St. Francis of Assisi
Yesterday, the HOTY (a/k/a Husband of the Year to new readers) and I were completely decadent: we went to an afternoon matinee to see The Iron Lady. Wowsy bowsy. It is one of those films that had me thinking about it well into today, so much so, in fact, that I’m writing about it here.… Continue reading Afternoon Matinee with the Iron Lady and St. Francis of Assisi
The Race is Over by Daniel Nahmod
A dear friend wrote to me today and said, “You MUST listen to this song!” She doesn’t do this very often, so when she does, I listen! Wowsy-Bowsy. Am I ever glad I did (Silver Lining). This song struck an incredible chord (pun intended) with me. I actually haven’t listened to it…yet. Reading it is in… Continue reading The Race is Over by Daniel Nahmod

100th Day of School
Today is a very special day for our daughter, a/k/a Sweetly Six. It is her 100th day of school. I don’t ever remember celebrating this day, do you? Apparently I’m behind the times – again – because it’s a BIG deal at her school!
