Yesterday, someone asked me, “What does Silver Lining (SL) mean?”
When I ask our 4 3/4 daughter what the phrase means, she replies, “It’s when something good comes out of something bad.” She sees SL’s with as much frequency as I do. For example, last night, I took a gigantic, narley splinter out of 4 3/4’s finger (big OWIE!) and then we watched a SL movie (Princess Aurora, by the way). This morning has a SL because I feel well enough to take her to school. The list goes on and on and on…
For me, a Silver Lining is the (sometimes unexpected!) beauty, joy, fortune, love, and happiness that I find in everyday situations since the FBC diagnosis. The extraordinary benefit of finding SL’s during FBC is that I’ll take them with me long after FBC is Gone. Gone. Gone.
